Solving Level 55 comes down to one opening move. On this 9×9 board the amber region is boxed in at 3 cells, which pins its cat to row 2, column 1 before anything else is decided. Common Level 55 Mistakes to Avoid
Mind the gap in rows 8–9
Cats in rows 8 and 9 land only 2 columns apart (columns 7 and 9), the narrowest gap on the board. Double-check the diagonal between them before you commit — a single column off here and the two cats would illegally touch.
Leave the biggest region for last
Early on, almost any violet square looks legal — that's the trap of a 17-cell region. Work everywhere else first: each cat you place elsewhere deletes violet options, and the last square standing is the answer.
Lock the corner first
The red region's cat is pinned to the bottom-right corner (row 9, column 9). Corners have the fewest neighbors, so this is your safest opening anchor — misread it and the error spreads across the whole board.

Open where it's tightest
Start with the amber region (row 2, column 1). It has the fewest open squares, so it forces a cat with zero guesswork — the natural first move on this board.
Eliminate, then chain
The board solves itself if you bookkeep: after every cat, cross off its row, column, region, and ring of eight neighbors. Done in order, indigo collapses next, red follows, and no later region ever offers more than one legal cell.
Endgame: the violet region
